Captain Bobby R. Toole Jr. was born and raised in Athens-Clarke County. Captain Toole began his career with the Athens-Clarke County Government in 1994 and graduated from the Northeast Georgia Police Academy in 1995. Captain Toole began his career working in the Jail Division as a shift deputy and later appointed as a classification deputy. Captain Toole was transferred to the Field Division in 2001 and assigned as transport deputy. During this assignment Captain Toole executed hundreds of extraditions throughout the United States and assisted in the Court Division. In 2004, Captain Toole was reassigned to the Warrant/Civil Division. During his tenure here, Captain Toole rose through the ranks and was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as a Watch Commander in the Field Division. Captain Toole was promoted to Captain in 2018 and assigned as Field and Court Section Commander.

In 2004 Captain Toole received a National Sheriff’s Association Merit award a Public Safety Officer award from Elks Lodge #790. In 2006 he received the Advocate of the Year Award from the Domestic Violence Task Force from Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he received the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Service award. In 2008, he received Deputy Sheriff of the Year by the Georgia Sheriff’s Association and in 2017 he received the Athens Rotary Club Deputy Sheriff of the Year award. He has received Letters of Commendation from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

In the community Captain Toole has worked with Rutland Academy for the past ten years. He has mentored numerous students and sponsored many events for the school.

Captain Toole is a 2018 graduate of Columbia Southern University where he earned a Criminal Justice Degree. He also completed the Athens Clarke County Developmental Organizations Supervisor and Management programs. In 2019, Captain Toole became a graduate of the Department of Homeland Security and National Sheriff's Association Leadership Academy Class #7.
