Solid Waste - Holiday Collection Schedule

  1. For ACC Solid Waste Customers Only: 2019-20 Christmas & New Year’s - Holiday Schedule

    November 30, 2019 - January 6, 2020

    The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department will suspend garbage, recycling & Leaf & Limb collection on Tuesday December 24th, Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in recognition of the Christmas holiday and Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in recognition of the New Year’s Holiday. If you have residential service & commercial service with us outside of downtown your pick up schedule for the week of Christmas, will be as follows: Monday will be picked up on Monday. Tuesday & Wednesday will be picked up on Thursday. Friday will be picked up on Saturday. Pick up schedule for the week of New Year’s week, Monday & Tuesday will be picked up on regular schedule. The rest of the week will be delayed by one day. Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are out on the curb by 7:00 AM on your altered service pick up day. If you have commercial or residential service with us and are located within the Downtown District you will not have a pick up on Christmas Day.

    KACCB accepts nominations for the Citizen of the Year Award. This annual award recognizes a community member as an environmental steward of litter prevention and abatement or community greening/beautification. The award recipient will be recognized at the annual GreenFest Award Ceremony. Nominees must be a resident of Athens-Clarke County.   1. Call for Entries: Ripple Effect Film Project

    Calling all young, budding filmmakers! We are planting the seeds of filmmaking, now just add water and watch you grow: Join the Ripple Effect Film Project by creating a short film about water. Finalists submissions will be shown at The Morton Theater on World Water Day, March 22, 2020. This year the film contest is open to Pre-K through 12th-grade filmmakers of all experience levels in Athens-Clarke County and neighboring counties. Entries can be submitted by an individual or team. Films must be submitted no later than 11:59 pm on February 2, 2020. No entry fees; cash prizes will be awarded!

  2. 2019 Water Conservation Leadership Award

    The Water Conservation Leadership Award recognizes an individual, business, group, or other organization that has demonstrated a commitment to protecting our water resources through water efficiency and conservation. Any resident, business, group, or other organization in Athens-Clarke County is eligible. The Water Conservation Leadership Award recipient will be notified of their selection by Monday, February 10, 2020. The Award will be presented at the Green Life Expo & Awards Ceremony on February 29, 2020. Deadline for submission is January 31, 2020.
