Stormwater News

Kudos: The Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association recognized Athens-Clarke County’s Transportation and Public Works Department’s Ponderosa Drive Stormwater Improvement and Roundabout Project with the 2015 Project of the Year Award. The project is a fantastic example of green infrastructure, and it includes a series of rain gardens within the traffic island that treat stormwater quantity and quality.

Stop Poo-llution: The Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Management Program continued its clean water education campaign with a new PSA about pet waste. Over 80 miles of Athens-Clarke County streams are impaired, and many of those streams are impaired for fecal coliform, a type of bacteria that indicates the presence of animal waste. Check out the video, and, if you have a dog, help us stop poo-llution by picking up after your pet.
