Fall Exhibitions Reception: Thursday, September 7, 6 - 8 pm

Join us to celebrate 4 new exhibitions. Make your move on a life-sized outdoor chess set, courtesy of the Athens Downtown Development Authority. Snack on fun foods. Embark on a Scavenger Hunt for contemporary artworks in the Victorian historic Ware-Lyndon House. Tour the studios. See all the space and equipment we have available as part of our Open Studio Program!

The Game Show

Artists investigate notions of leisure, competition and physicality/sports. The Game Show includes interactive work by
Esteban Patino, sculpture by Curtis Ames, Lea Purvis, and Kaleena Stasiak, paintings by Meg Aubrey and Noah McCarthy, photographs by Nicole Jean Hill, and video by Paul Pfeiffer. Mike Landers has created wall-hanging works from LEGOs.

Kaleena Stasiak leads visitors through her Scavenger Hunt. Challenge Esteban Patino in a game of Ticktacktoe, Guess the number of Legos to win a prize with Mike Landers and play Air Sea Dolphin's new video game.

The Game Show, continued

The Game Show continued...A scavenger hunt project by artist Kaleena Stasiak melds the contemporary with history. Find artist-made objects hidden in plain sight, camouflaged by the Victorian splendor of the historic Ware-Lyndon House. Come see if you can spot them all!

Gallery Talk: Saturday, October 7, 2 pm Facebook Event

Known for his interactive installations, Zane Cochran pushes the boundaries of technology and art.This commissioned installation includes 40 suspended structures that begin to glow and fade as visitors explore the gallery. The multifaceted structures, which draw inspiration from the Northern Lights, are generated from a computer algorithm created by the artist to inform both the shape and coloration of the interactive lights.

Curated by Margot Ecke, this group show includes artists who are well-honed in their field, with practiced dialogues that are current and relevant.  Expect some lyrical works, elegant simple structures and the magic of sculptural, carved, pulled and forged books of unexpected shapes.

Connecting: Stairways to.. by artist Thom Houser

Houser, will explore the many types of connections that occur while using stairways: Entering, Processing, Accessing, Escaping, Blocking access, Socializing, Exploring. The multi-media installation will include several components, sculpture, photography, and video.

Lounge Gallery: Timothy Adams

The Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center, features quarterly solo exhibitions by emerging artists. This fall features the experimental, bold abstractions by artist Timothy Adams, a plaster repair contractor by day and a musician by night. Timothy's recent work reflects an interest in minimalism, intense color and focused compositions.

Master Class in Book Arts with Margot Ecke

This special workshop is in conjunction with the exhibition, "All that Remains is Nowhere: a sampling of 21st Century book arts."
Margot Ecke will be leading this one day workshop introducing students to the Historic Longstitch book structure, a popular bookbinding style prevalent in Northern Europe during the 1300's.

Lunch & Learn: Artist D.I. Y. Marketing

Members from the Pixel & Ink/TRIO Gallery team as well as Alyssa DeHayes, publicist with Riot Act Media and founder of Arrowhawk Records and painter Will Eskridge will discuss self-promotion and marketing strategies. This program is a continued partnership with the Athens Area Arts Council and its members.

The OPEN STUDIOS program is having its first B-day! In celebration of this program the Art Center has a special offering. Enroll in a fall session class and qualify for a buy one/ get one free month of OPEN STUDIOS time. Sign-up for a class and get a discount on the OPEN STUDIOS membership- you’ll get two months of studio time for the price of one. You’ll have extra time to work on projects during your class session!

Join the Open Studio Community!
Membership dues: $65 for one month, $175 for three months, or $335 for six months will give you access to all of the studio spaces- printmaking, painting, fiber, clay, jewelry, sculpture, photography. 
Open Studios Membership hours are: Tuesday and Thursday, 1 - 8 PM Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (with Open Studio Monitor), 10 AM – 4 PM
