Welcome to spring.
Between the great weather and GreenFest, Athens-Clarke County's annual celebration of the environment, April is a good month to get out and get involved. We have several events this month that focus on reducing water pollution, ranging from creek clean ups to learning opportunities. Here is what we have coming up. I hope to see you there.
Athens Farmers Market
Saturday, April 4, 8 am–noon
Come to the Athens Farmers Market and check out our booth. We’ll have information on rain barrels and rain gardens, as well as a trivia game and prizes.
Rain Barrel Workshop
Saturday, April 18, 10 am–noon
We are hosting a free rain barrel workshop. Learn about water pollution, what rain barrels do to reduce it, and how you can use rain barrels in your home. Space is limited, so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot.
Creek Clean Up
Tuesday, April 21, 5–6:30 pm
Trail Creek Park
Get out and get dirty while getting our city clean. Pick up litter along Trail Creek, and make a real difference in your watershed's health. Space is limited, so please RSVP to email@example.com to reserve a spot.
Earth Day with Creature Comforts
Wednesday, April 22, 5–8 pm
Creature Comforts Brewery
Several organizations, including ACC Stormwater and Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, will have informational tables during Creature Comforts public tour. Learn about water pollution in Athens and what you can do to stop it. The tour is free (souvenir glasses can be purchased for $12), so come by and say hi.
