Write an essay and submit with a form to enter the contest.
Purpose: Sandy Creek Nature Center is offering an essay contest to win a telescope that will help budding astronomers learn more about what is visible in our night sky.
Eligibility: Individual 4th grade through high school students in public, private, and homeschools from the following counties: Clarke, Jackson, Oconee, Madison, Oglethorpe.
1. Students must write a personal essay stating why they want to win a telescope and what they would like to observe with it.
2. Essays should be between ½ page to 1 page in length typed. Please do not submit hand written entries.
3. One entry per student.
4. Finalists will be interviewed in person before winners are announced.
Contest Deadlines: The contest runs September 2019 until November 1st 2019. Essays must be submitted by email to Kate.Mowbray@accgov.com by 5pm on November 1st.
Winners will be notified by email via contact information provided on entry form.
The winners will receive the following as a prize.
-a refurbished telescope
-an informational packet
-an instructional lesson on how to use the telescope with Dr. Maurice Snook.
