For employment purposes, there are three ACCPD units:
Civilian: Clerical staff members keep our department organized, trained and prepared. Civilian positions work closely with uniformed officers is such diverse areas as community outreach, crime prevention and information technology. Current Open Positions
Communications: These employees serve a vital link between citizens and emergency service providers. These communication officers need strong organizational skills, the ability to make quick decisions and the ability to effectively communicate under pressure in a dynamic environment. Police: Sworn to protect and serve the citizens of Athens-Clarke County, these officers work in partnership with the community to maintain law and order. These officers are classified in two categories:
The ACCPD accepts new, first time applicants four times per year. Applications for first time police officers are only accepted during the dates listed below at Athens-Clarke County Human Resources.
