Project Details

This project is for the capital improvements to the Athens Transit bus stops to include installation of new signage, paved areas at each stop, seating, bus shelters, art shelters, landscaping, route information and other related improvements at the bus stops. This is a continuation of a SPLOST 2005 and SPLOST 2000 programs.  

Project Updates

Design for each of the stops to be improved has been completed. Art shelter contracts have been issued.  Scheduled completion of all stops is scheduled for October 2019. To date 13 level two sites with Simme Seats have been completed, 9 new shelters have been installed, and 32 concrete pads have been placed ready for art shelters to be installed.  Unique Type I art shelters are under contract. Final Design and land acquisition is near completion on approximately 35 additional stops. First of new art  shelters have been installed. Four additional art shelters are scheduled for delivery in late September. Anticipate delivery of all Art Shelters by December 2019.
