Professional Experience: Tim is currently employed by the United Campus Workers of Georgia as a labor organizer. He has previously worked as a bookseller, bowling machine mechanic at the former Kingpins in the Homewood Village shopping center, bartender, after-school mentor, touring musician, and ranch hand. In college, Tim co-founded a co-operative record label.
Civic and Community Service: Tim has worked as a community organizer in Athens since 2011. Tim co-founded the community organization Athens for Everyone in 2014. With Athens for Everyone he served as President (2014-2016) and Organization Coordinator (2014-2017). He served on the board of the Athens Federation of Neighborhoods (2016-2017). Tim has served on the Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee since 2016, and as a Vice-Chair since 2018. Tim has done organizing work with Occupy Athens, Moral Monday GA, Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement, Keep Athens Schools Local, Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition, NAACP and others to advance social justice priorities.
Government Experience: Tim served on the ACC Vision Committee from 2014 to 2017, the Athens Transit Stakeholder Committee (2016), and the Envision Athens Stakeholder committee. Tim has led citizen-lobbying trainings to help Georgians know who to effectively engage with their local, State, and Federal elected officials.
Education: Tim graduated from Edison College (AA) in 2003. He has received multiple trainings on organizing, communications, and community engagement.
Personal: Tim is lucky enough to be the husband of Jennifer Winchell Denson and the father of Sarah Michelle. Athens serves as the perfect location for him to enjoy his many interests such as music, scooters, farming, the Atlanta Braves, and delicious Georgia beer!
