Innovation Infrastructure project will provide for a Tech Innovation Complex that will be attractive to talent and support a mix of uses for the entrepreneurial and innovative industry sectors, and will promote vibrancy and walkability within an Innovation District in Athens-Clarke County. The project will be anchored by a building that will provide 35,000 sq ft of flexible space, with 15,000 sq ft of bio-bridge space to be built out in the future. Bio-bridge space is a flexible wet lab facility for companies that have left an incubator and are in product development. This space is designed for companies needing 2,000 sq ft to 5,000 sq ft as they move toward Phase 1 clinical trials. This building should be flexible and adaptable to support a range of technological processes ranging from digital tech, hardware fabrication to medical device and biopharma applications, as well as consumer product innovation. Several examples of these types of mixed research and development buildings have been identified. The construction program for this project will also include an addition of 200 structured parking spaces to downtown Athens.
