Project Description from submission form

The development of a Public Safety Training Center is requisite to sustain and enhance the training provided to all Athens-Clarke County law enforcement professionals. To such ends, it is proposed that a purpose built training facility be constructed at the current ACCGOV Firearms Range (599 Candler Road), inclusive of training room, site improvements, addition of a driving pad, and firearms range improvements.

The proposed training center seeks to include: a training facility with an adaptable classroom; office space for all public safety training staff; dedicated use of force training space; defensive tactics training space; a driving simulator room; a driver training pad; meeting space; gym & locker rooms for public safety personnel; an oversized vehicle garage / equipment storage; firearms range improvements; roadway and parking improvements; and the refinement of existing support structures.
