Lyndon House Arts Center and ATHICA Presents Lantern Making Workshop With Zane Cochran October 11, 2018, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
In celebration of ATHICA’s (Athens Institute of Contemporary Art) move to the downtown neighborhood, the Lyndon House Arts Center and ATHICA will co-host a Lantern making workshop on October 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The lantern-making workshop will be led by artist Zane Cochran and is in preparation for the first Lantern Parade on November 1, 2018. The Lantern Parade will begin at 8:30 pm at the Lyndon House. The route is down Hoyt Street, past the Athens Council on Aging and up the Pulaski Heights Trail, ending at ATHICA’s new home in the Leathers Building, 675 Pulaski Street, Suite 1200. Known for his interactive installations, Zane Cochran pushes the boundaries of technology and art. Last summer, his commissioned work at the Lyndon House, entitled Aurora, an immersive environment, included 40 suspended structures that glowed and faded as visitors explore the gallery. The Lyndon House is delighted to have Zane back to share his expertise with us.
The Lantern making workshop will get you ready to participate in the Lantern Parade with an illuminated lantern of your own. We look forward to walking with you on November 1! The Lantern making workshop is free but registration is required. REGISTER HERE
