North Oconee River Greenway Trail Expansion

The North Oconee Rivers Greenway Project consists of the acquisition of properties and easements on the North Oconee River and development of greenway trails for public use. Parcels may provide stream buffer, recreational access to the river, and/or greenway opportunities as outlined in the 2016 Greenway Network Plan.

This project includes the continuation of an improved surface trail for non-motorized vehicles along the North Oconee River running south from Dudley Park. The trail will allow for pedestrian and bicyclist alike to further participate in activities or commuting within Athens-Clarke County without being within close motor vehicle proximity. This project includes design, engineering, and right of way acquisition in preparation for immediate or future trail construction. The project will include educational and informational signage near Historic Easley's Mill, overlooks to the river, and a connection to the Oak/Oconee Street Park-and-Ride lot.

For more information, visit the SPLOST Project 25 page, Greenway Page, or check out our 2016 Greenway Network Plan.
