Lily Swindle's love for water shows in this bright and airy piece of art. The heart in the center reminds us that water is the "Life Force" we depend upon. The pinks delicately blend into the blues on the outer edges of the hydrant to give the appearance of soft clouds in the sunset.
Lily is a veteran when it comes to painting oddly shaped items. In addition to painting a fire hydrant for this downtown art project, she has left her mark on several rain barrels in Athens-Clarke County's Roll Out the Barrels events*. If you haven't seen one of her barrels, you have definitely seen this artist's work around town. Specializing in chalk art and calligraphy, she is the creative mind behind the chalkboard signs you see at Terripan Brewery and other Athens' businesses.
See her fire hydrant located on the corner of Broad St. and Thomas St. by BB&T bank.
