Satterfield Courts 1-3 Reopening Following Resurfacing and Fencing Project Facility 056 | Updated: 8:00 AM, October 18, 2016 | Posted: 4:30 PM, August 16, 2016 Satterfield Park's tennis/pickleball courts are scheduled to reopen around 3 PM Wednesday, October 19 following a second closure in our multi-phase project to rejuvenate these courts. The last phase of the project-installation of windscreens-is expected to occur in early November and is not expected to require any additional closure.
This multi-phase project began in August. Wind loading, vehicle damage, and just normal wear since the fencing was originally installed had left the fencing not just looking rough but also a hazard in some locations. Contractors removed the fencing then installed new line posts where necessary and replaced all of the rails and wire mesh.
A second closure of the courts began October 6 to allow a separate contractor to repair surface cracks, fully resurface, and reline the courts. With the last paint going down late Monday, the courts will reopen on Wednesday allowing the paint to fully cure and giving crews an opportunity to install new signage.
During this second closure, county crews in conjunction with GA power reran the electrical supplying the court lighting which had been damaged by tree roots. New windscreens will finish off this project and should be delivered and installed in early November.
With new windscreens, fencing, nets, signage, surfacing, and an updated electrical supply, these courts should provide use for both our Tennis and Pickleball communities for years to come. We appreciate everyone's patience as we have worked to rejuvenate this popular facility.
