Summers Explorers is a program for ages 4-6 to experience a camp-like atmosphere at a young age. Four different sessions are offered during the summer. Find the dates and topics below.
All programs are 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Fee: $20/ACC resident; $30/Non-ACC resident; SCNC members receive 10% off per session.
Nature Movements June 12-14
Snakes slither, water ripples, and wind blows leaves all around. Nature doesn’t sit still so why should we? Explorers will use their bodies to imitate movements in nature.
A Bug’s Life June 26-28
What is that crawling across the ground? Come find out and we get down to Earth with all kinds of bugs. From flying to swimming, we will visit different bug habitats to get a safe look at what it is like to look at the world through the eyes of a bug. Be prepared to visit the water during this week.
Hidden Treasures July 10-13
Explorers will search for treasures that secretly hide from the untrained eye. Search for buried pirate booty, track down animals by the clues they leave behind and discover the hidden treasures of Sandy Creek Nature Center.
Animals: Real vs. Fantasy July 24-26
Compare fossils of dinosaurs to fairy tale creatures. Campers will hike and use their imagination to find creatures of the forest. Campers will make their own version of a dinosaur footprint and learn that animals are special creatures-real or make believe.
Registration begins March 23 at 9am for ACC residents and 25th at Noon for Non-ACC residents.
