Join Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department as we celebrate International Compost Awareness Week! For 2018, the US Composting Council is focused on building a better future. The events are sponsored locally by ACC Recycling Division, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, UGA Cooperative Extension and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

New Aerated Static Pile Compost | Classic City Compost is now manufactured using
aerated static piles. See this new technique in action. Closed-toe shoes are required;
boots are recommended.

Compost Learning Session: Maepole

Educational session at Maepole restaurant. Learn the basics of composting from
Master Composters, and see how a restaurant can operate at near-zero waste using

Tour of UGA Composting Operation: Whitehall Engineering Education and
Research Campus

See how food scraps from UGA’s many dining halls feed all that great-looking
landscaping across campus. Closed-toe shoes are required; boots are recommended.

GA Cooperative Extension and ACC Solid Waste present a 90-minute class led by
Master Composter and Solid Waste Department Director Suki Janssen.
