ACT offers a variety of classes and programs for the aspiring performer. We have two annual classes, Beginning ACTing Workshop and Monologues & More which teaches theater performance basics. 

Athens Creative Theatre also offers two week summer performance camps for campers ages 8-12 who are are interested in being a part of a live stage production. Campers learn the basics of stage direction, characterization, and theater etiquette. During their two weeks at ACT they will go through the entire process of performing from audition to opening night. Each two week performance camp wraps up with a live performance of the campers' play.

Beginning ACTing Workshop


This six-week workshop uses simple monologues, readers’ theater skits, and improvisation to explore the benefits of drama. Discover different emotional responses to everyday and extraordinary circumstances, build self-esteem, and utilize role playing as a way of understanding another point of view.

  • Program Date: January 8 - February 13, 2020
    (Thursdays Only)  
  • Time: 4:30 p.m .- 5:30 p.m.
  • Fee: $83 ACC resident; $124.50 Non-resident

Super Duck - Studying Scripts

Monologues & More


Classes for the cognitively challenged will use simple monologues, readers’ theater skits, and improvisational scenarios to explore the benefits of drama, discover different emotional responses, and build self-esteem and confidence.

    (Tuesdays Only)

Live Action Role Play for Youth

Athens Creative Theatre will be hosting a half-day LARPing (Live Action Role Play) event for ages 10-15 at Quinn Hall / Memorial Park. This event will focus on character development, team building, guided imaginative play, and improvisation skills. Participants will create fantasy characters, learn the rules of LARP combat (foam weaponry) and set of on a mission with their team to solve puzzles, battle foes, and engage in improvisational scenarios with the characters they encounter on their quest.

ASL Theatre Workshop 

Athens Creative Theatre in partnership with Hands In Presents will be offering a 6 week ASL (American Sign Languate) theatre course teaching members of the Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities the fundamentals of performing theatre in ASL. The course is instructed by Haley Beech and Amara Ede who are the founders of Hands in Presents. 

SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS

Teen Encore Camps


A one week day camp for teens ages 13-18 centered around learning the basics of technical theatre. participants will learn theatre etiquette, basic sound/light board operation, prop shop safety and set building techniques. Students will work as a team to execute a number of technical theatre tasks, develop communication skills and technical disciplines.

Musical Theatre Performance Program



A two week day camp taking students through the musical theater process from audition to performance. Campers will learn theater basics, how to work from a script, how to take stage directions, memorization skills, and characterization with our skilled instructors. Students will go through the entire theatrical performance process culminating in a live production the final day of camp for a live audience.
