Great American Cleanup

What Makes Athens Beautiful? You do!

Every year, in honor of GreenFest and Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) challenges Athenians to get outside and make their town beautiful!

This spring, to go with our Loop 10 Daffodil Planting Project, we are challenging citizens to conduct a ramp cleanup! Contact KACCB to find out which ramps are available and to reserve a date and tools to complete a cleanup.

Adopt-A-Highway groups are challenged to complete a roadside cleanup of their adopted road during GreenFest. During April 2018, 362 volunteers from 27 groups picked up 121 bags of trash and 37 bags of recyclables from our roadways for a total of 29 cleanups and 356 volunteer hours!

KACCB offers Down and Dirty Cleanups for groups that are seeking a one-time service project, such as cleaning up a stretch of road, doing a planting project, scraping stickers downtown, removing litter from waterways, or any project that makes our community cleaner and more beautiful. KACCB can provide a wide variety of tools and support to have for a rewarding workday.

To learn more, contact KACCB at or (706) 613-3501, ext. 309.
