Adult Art Classes
Come join the creative community of artists, art appreciators, designers and educators. Participate in the many art class and programs offered here at the Arts Center! We have seven fully equipped studios including painting and drawing, jewelry and metalwork, sculpture and woodshop, ceramics, printmaking, fabric and fiber arts, and photography complete with a dark room. Come learn or hone your skills in pulling a print, drawing shadow and shade, soldering silver, forming a pot on the wheel, binding a book and so much more. Mosaic Art with Jane Wright
Tuesdays, Fall 2019, 6:30 - 8:30 pm. This mosaic class will introduce the participant to the basics of traditional and contemporary mosaic art form. Students will learn a brief history of the art and techniques used to produce mosaics. Topics to be covered will include design, using a wheeled glass nipper, glass placement and grouting. Intro to Wheel Thrown Pottery with Jasey Jones
This course offers new and returning students to a 6 week introduction to the potter's wheel. Participants will experience basic methods of centering clay, forming cylinder and pottery bowl forms, trimming and adding handles. Students will also learn how to finish their pots using standard decorating and glazing techniques. This class is for students with no prior wheel experience. The Natural Way to Draw with Toni Carlucci
Students will learn and practice several drawing fundamentals including contour, gesture, perspective, proportion and other techniques such as form and shading.Link to page
Intro to Oil Painting
Winter Session 2019 - 2020 This class will cover fundamental techniques and materials in oil painting with an emphasis on painting from life. Students will be given an introduction to life-painting, color mixing and color theory as well as a chance to explore painting mediums and substrates. Some supplies are provided. An additional list of supplies that need to be purchased by the student will be available.Link to page
Painting with Charles
Whether you work in acrylic or oil, you’ll benefit from Charles’ individualized approach for the advanced beginner and intermediate painter. Students bring in their own subject matter or works in progress as well as supplies. Charles earned his MFA from the University of Georgia and exhibits his large flower paintings regionally.Link to page
