Phase I of this project included renovation of the Lower Level of the Foundry Street Warehouse to provide additional meeting space for the Classic Center. This work was completed in October of 2005 at a project cost of approximately $2,300,000.
Phase II of this project consisted of adding a partial, 10,000 square foot second level to the Classic Center’s existing Exhibit Hall. On this new level, which connected directly to the main Classic Center meeting rooms at the Thomas street level, was located two large meeting spaces each with the capability of dividing in half, a pre-function corridor, food service spaces, restrooms and ancillary offices. All meeting spaces were equipped with state-of-the-art lighting controls and audio-video capabilities. Below this new level, utilizing a system of moveable partitions, five breakout spaces were created each with similar lighting controls and A/V capabilities as the upper spaces.
A significant component of this project was the erection of an enclosed pedestrian bridge from the new Upper Level, across Foundry Street and tying into the Foundry Street Warehouse which houses additional meeting/breakout spaces. This bridge connection included an extension of the Warehouse elevator up to the bridge level making, for the first time, an accessible connection between the two Classic Center facilities. Phase II was completed in November of 2007 at a project cost of approximately $5,850,000
Completing Project 021 was the renovation of the remaining, approximately 3,000 square foot, area of the Lower Level Foundry Street Warehouse to provide two additional conference rooms, pre-function and other ancillary spaces. This portion was completed in the summer of 2008 at a project cost of approximately $250,000.
