Project 16: Oconee River Heritage Trail

Project Description


This phase of the greenway project added three pedestrian / bicycle bridges over the North Oconee River, and Interpretive Center at the Chicopee Complex, and continued connection of the greenway through Dudley Park to Oconee Street and on to Williams Street where it will connect with the University of Georgia campus at East Campus Road.

The project was divided into five divisions:
  • II-A - Dudley Park / Oconee Street Trail (April 2000 - June 2000)
  • II-B - Chicopee Interpretive Center (July 2000 - February 2001)
  • II-C - North Oconee River Bridges (July 2000 - March 2001)
  • II-D - Williams Street Connector (September 2000 - March 2001)
  • II-E - Easley's Mill (future funding source)

  • Original SPLOST Budget: $1,800,000
  • Budget Amendments: $638,000
  • Adjusted SPLOST Budget: $2,438,000
  • Amount Expended: $2,438,000
