On November 6, 2007, the Mayor and Commission approved a recycling policy for all Athens-Clarke County properties (Policy SW-021). This policy requires that all events held by Athens-Clarke County or held on county property must provide the opportunity for recycling. The Solid Waste Department can provide this event recycling bins and bags for FREE, or request drop off/pick up service for a fee. Read details below.
Recycling for Private Events
Having an event on private property? If so, the Recycling Division can help coordinate event recycling efforts and/or provide educational exhibits for those events too. Folding recycling bins and bags are available for your festivals and events for FREE. Please contact us at least 10 business days in advance to request materials. Make an impact at your next event and recycle!

ACC Solid Waste Drop Off/Pick Up Service
Don't want to pick up or drop off trash cans or recycling bins? Don't have a large enough vehicle to hold bins and collected materials? Don't worry! Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste will drop off and pick up bins and other materials for a flat fee of $35. Requests for this service must be made at least 10 business days in advance.
ACC Solid Waste Event Staffing
ACC Solid Waste provides staffing services for larger events. ACC employees will be responsible for delivering and removing bins, changing bags, removing collected materials and managing the waste stations set up throughout the event. The current rate for this service is $20/hour/employee. Costs are to be paid by the event organizer/applicant. Requests for this service must be made at least 10 business days in advance.
