Athens Tech Recycling Drop-off Site Closing on January 31 Due to Chronic Illegal Dumping

Athens Tech Recycling Drop-Off Site Closing

The ACC Recycling Division will close the recycling drop-off site located at US Hwy 29 North at Calhoun Drive (Athens Tech) on January 31, 2018 due to chronic illegal dumping. Recycling drop-off sites are for recyclable material only. Accepted items are marked on the recycling containers. Leaving mattresses, furniture, TVs, appliances, and other large items at these sites is considered illegal dumping.

The nearest recycling drop-off sites to the closing location are:

  • ACC Recycling Facility at 699 Hancock Industrial Way (open Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
  • ACC Fire Station #9 at 1650 Danielsville Road (open 24/7)

Eight recycling drop-off sites will remain located throughout Athens-Clarke County after the closure of the Athens Tech site and the recent closure of a drop-off site at 220 Newton Bridge Road on December 8, 2017. That location at Power Partners closed due to changes to the property.
