Alert IconALERT! Facility Update 3:30 PM 9/14  Power has been restored to all locations. Most of our damaged facilities have been repaired and reopened; though, repairs to fully restore Bear Hollow Zoo will take into next week. Trails are still being assessed and cleared at this time.

Updates will be posted on Park Closings. For more information, resources, and updates regarding Hurricane Irma and the response in Athens-Clarke County, visit www.athensclarkecounty.com/irma.

Alert IconALERT! Trail Hazards Hazardous trail conditions remain following Hurricane Irma with numerous downed and hazard trees along trails. A system-wide assessment is underway and trails will be flagged as cleared on the Trail Status page as crews complete work.

As always, users in natural spaces are encouraged to use caution, be aware of their surroundings, and avoid hazards. Please report damaged bridges, downed or hazard trees, and maintenance issues with geo-tagged photos or by dropping us a pin to ParkMaintenance@athensclarkecounty.com or by calling us at 706-613-3801 extension 25.

Keep up to date with closings and damages on our Park Closings page.

We are continually working to improve our trails!Greenway Flooding

In order to maintain the integrity of our trails, trails may be temporarily closed or under restricted use advisories throughout the year. Temporary closures are usually due to maintenance; restricted use advisories are usually due to weather.

Trail use during wet conditions is not only dangerous, but it can seriously damage natural surface trails. It can also have a negative environmental impact.

We ask that users refrain from accessing our natural surface trails during wet conditions.

For more information and any questions, please call the Trails and Open Space Supervisor at 706-613-3801 ext. 26.
