The School Garden Network is organizing a new training opportunity for Master Gardeners and community members. Now is your chance to join the School Garden Brigade (SGB). Brigade members will attend an orientation session and will then be available to be matched with a school garden.
Volunteers are needed for two types of tasks:
To organize one to two garden workdays per year to keep the garden classroom ready and watching over the garden throughout the year to keep it planted, weeded, watered, and maintained.
To provide classroom help using the garden by leading a series of three or more lessons to cover fall planting, seed starting, spring planting, and harvest.
Volunteers will be provided with the lessons, support, and training to get active in the school garden. Commitment is one school year and garden activities are scheduled at the discretion of the brigade member and the school.
