Water System Efficiency
The Athens-Clarke County Public Utilities Department is working hard to save water before it reaches our customers. We work every day to improve the efficiency of our system to keep operating costs down and preserve our precious water resource.
Outreach and Education
The Water Conservation Office plans and implements a variety of programs to educate citizens and promote water conservation efforts. In 2009 and 2010 the Water Conservation Office reached approximately 2,000 kids and adults through family events, school visits, teacher workshops, water treatment plant tours and onsite water conservation programs. We have also been awarded the Georgia Association of Water Professionals 2010 Public Education Program of the Year.
