Speakers Bureau
Is your church or community organization interested in Athens' water? We have programs on water quality, the perils of bottled water, statewide water issues, and others. We can customize a presentation to suit your needs. We give talks to groups of all ages, backgrounds, and interest level.

To schedule a program, please contact the Water Conservation Coordinator at

Rain Barrel Workshops
Rain barrels help to conserve water and reduce erosion from stormwater runoff.  The Water Conservation Office has partnered with the Athens-Clarke County Stormwater Division to offer rain barrel workshops.  In this hands-on workshop participants work with ACC staff to build their own rain barrels and learn how to install them at home.  Participants leave with their own, ready to install rain barrel!

PreK-12 Programs

Children's Programs
The children of Athens-Clarke County are the future of water conservation, so it’s our job to give them the tools they need to protect our precious natural resource.  Through hands-on and interactive presentations, kids learn how to use water wisely while having fun at the same time. The Water Conservation Office promotes a culture of water conservation from the smallest to the tallest - classrooms, summer camps, scouts, and home schoolers just to name a few! Check out our Program Menu for more details on our most popular programs.

You can contact our office to make a presentation or schedule a tour of a facility.

Athens Green Schools Program
The Green Schools Program is a project of the Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division, ACC Public Utilities (Water Conservation), ACC Transportation and Public Works (Stormwater), and Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful. The Green Schools Program is designed to assist schools with environmental education and improvement efforts that focus on conservation, preservation, and beautification of our environment.
