Prevention

Responsibilities
The Fire Prevention / Investigation Division is responsible for fire investigations, fire inspections, fire code enforcement, and plan review for Athens-Clarke County. This division also investigates citizen complaints regarding fire and life safety hazards and enforces compliance with both state and county burning regulations, as well as public education in reducing fire risk to the community.

Personnel
The Fire Prevention division consists of seven personnel: one fire marshal, one assistant fire marshal, one senior fire inspector / investigator, three fire inspectors / investigators, and one office assistant.
