Board of Assessors

The County Board of Assessors is responsible for determining if you can be taxed, value, and equalization of all property assessments within the county. The Board of Assessors is a three member body of appointed citizens of Athens-Clarke County. The Board serves on a part time basis and meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise posted. The members are appointed for a fixed year term by the Athens-Clarke County Board of Commissioners and operate autonomously. A Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected on an annual basis.
