Project 3: Airport Commercial Terminal Facility

Project Description
The Commercial Terminal Facility Project at Athens Ben Epps Airport, includes renovation of the existing commercial terminal building located on the north side of the airport to meet the needs of both current and FAA forecasted passenger enplanements.  The building is to be renovated to provide functional space and all necessary appurtenances for commercial airline service and all associated support services.

  • On August 16, 2011, the Airport Authority (AA) approved the schematic building floor plans and an exterior concept plan for the Commercial Terminal renovation.  Subsequent to this approval action, the AA approved a separate action to place the project temporarily on-hold until the AA can evaluate the impacts of recent and planned Congressional actions regarding the Essential Air Service (EAS) program. This program involves future funding for airport service and may impact final design decisions for the Commercial Terminal. Currently the Project remains on-hold pending action from the Airport Authority
