When to Water

Level 2 Drought Response Outdoor Water Use Schedule - Effective November 2016

These restrictions are consistent with the State of Georgia's Drought Response Level 2.

Odd/Even Watering

For planting, growing, managing, or maintaining ground cover, trees, shrubs, or other plants, watering is limited to two days a week on an odd/even schedule between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. as follows:

ends in 1,3,5,7,9
Can water Sunday and Thursday
with NO watering between 10:00AM - 4:00PM
ends in 0,2,4,6,8 
and sites without a numbered address
Can water Saturday and Wednesday
with NO watering between 10:00AM - 4:00PM

Outdoor Water Uses

You can use water outdoors any time for:
  • Commercial pressure washing
  • Drip or soaker hose irrigation
  • Hand watering with a hose with an automatic cut-off or with a handheld container
  • Hydroseeding
  • Installation, maintenance, or calibration of irrigation systems
  • Irrigation of athletic fields, golf courses, or public turf grass recreational areas
  • Irrigation of horticultural crops held for sale, resale, or installation
  • Irrigation of newly installed turf, plants, or seed (for the first thirty days)
  • Watering personal food gardens
  • Water from a private well
  • Water from an alternate source (grey water, rain water, condensate)

Outdoor Water Uses Not Allowed

Outdoor water use shall not be allowed for the following purposes, except as provided:
  • Washing hard surfaces such as streets, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways, except when necessary for public health and safety
  • Using water for ornamental purposes, such as fountains, reflecting pools, and waterfalls
  • Use of fire hydrants, except for the purposes of firefighting, public health, safety, or flushing
  • Washing vehicles at home, such as cars, boats, trailers, motorbikes, airplanes, or golf carts
  • Non-commercial washing, or pressure washing, of buildings or structures, except for immediate fire protection
  • Charity, or non-commercial fund-raiser, car washes
